Mika + Rose | Tropical Disco Wedding
This tropical disco wedding at The Ritz Carlton in Sarasota was SO freaking special. I’ve had a lot of wedding couples who have had to roll with the punches, like Kenzie and John after Hurricane Ian, and Mika + Rose also showed the same flexibility and lightheartedness when weather upset their plans.
We had to change the timeline last minute… no less than 5 times! And for anyone who has constructed a timeline… you know that’s a lotta moving pieces! There were terrible storms on their big day, and we just had to adaptadaptadapt. We even decided to do an unplanned first look while waiting for the storms to pass! The weather in Florida just has a mind of its own, and we rolled with the punches.
But eventually the storms, calmed down and these two got to say “I Do” and officially become a married couple!!! 🎉🎉🎉 The sun even came out in celebration!
I gotta say, Mika + Rose were so flexible and kept their cool on what was otherwise a flustering day. We reminded everyone that rain is, actually, good luck. Despite the chaos it cause 🤣 And these two kept their eyes on the true meaning of their wedding day. Which wasn’t the timeline or their best laid plans… it was becoming husband and wife. And at the end of the day, they did just that!
Their reception was nothing but fun! Everyone let loose! The tropical disco wedding vibes were in full force, and I loved photographing all their details. Their friends and family surrounded them with love and affectionate, and despite the crazy weather- they had a perfect day! And some fun stories to tell later in life 😆
As a Florida wedding photographer, these chaotic days can be a little more challenging… to find good lighting, to adapt on the fly, to make sure all the in-between-moments are still captured. I’ve never been more grateful that I have shot hundreds of weddings and knew what to look for… even as our plans changed over and over.
